- If your school is fairly close to the sea write a letter to the local RNLI asking if your class can visit the lifeboat station.
- Devise and create a front page newspaper spread on the story of Grace Darling. For easy to use guides on how to create a newspaper using MS Word please go to the Documents section in itteam.powys.gov.uk and download the free guides Newspaper 1-5.
- Create a poster highlighting the dangers of using inflatables in the sea and include the emergency phone number.
- Use a spreadsheet to record how many units of electricity are used in your school every week. If you do not have appropriate software why not visit www.openoffice.org and download Open Office2 free!
- Research and create a presentation on sustainable energy and harnessing the power of the waves.
- Use 2Publish (part of the Infant Video Toolkit 2 by 2Simple - www.2simple.com) to create a story book for the infants based on the story of Jesus walking on the waves or telling the storm to be quieter. Please
and we could show them on these web pages.
- Write and present prayers for the safety of those working on the sea and to thank God for the fun we have on the beach.
- Prepare an item for local radio in order to discuss the positive and negative aspects of marinas on the local area - see, for example news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/4638873.stm
- Prepare a timeline based on the history of the lighthouse. Under supervision pupils could use Ask Jeeves for Kids or Google to research the history.
